Planning

Now that you have your research done (YAY!) you can get onto the exciting part of planning, shooting and editing your film (HUZZAH!).

The planning stages should be as follows:

-Your ideal audience (who would you pitch the film to, age, demographic etc). You could do some profiles of your ideal audience
-Storyboard
-Plot
-Symbols/ideas
-Title ideas
-Soundtrack ideas
-Script
-Animatic (a "filmed" storyboard)
-Show animatic & script to selected intended audience
-Make any changes based on the advice and expectations of your chosen audience/viewers
-Create a shooting script
-Do a risk assessment
-Do research of actors, locations, props, makeup, lighting etc
-Create a shooting timetable/schedule
-DOCUMENT EVERYTHING (PHOTOS ETC) SO I CAN MARK IT :)

Titling

Titles must not be an afterthought, they are a vital part of the connection between film and audience and help to establish and develop expectations of your film. Look at http://www.artofthetitle.com/ for inspiration. It's worth your while to look at least three films in your chosen genre and create a timeline for what titles come where, when and in what order and how they are used to enhance the mood and feel of the film. Make note of all the technical codes and conventions of titling for your chosen genre.
